JIM MERRILL
Jim Merrill's extensive political career spans over two decades, beginning as a legislative liaison and press secretary for Congressman Floyd Spence. He later became Political Director of the South Carolina Republican Party, working closely with former Chairman (and now Governor) Henry McMaster. Merrill then founded Geechie Communications, a successful public relations firm later rebranded as Highline Communications, serving political and business clients across the Southeast.
Elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives in 2000, Merrill quickly rose to prominence, becoming Majority Leader in 2004. He played a critical role in shaping the state’s property tax reform, pension restructuring, and higher education policies. His leadership extended to the State Ports Oversight Committee, where he helped guide strategic reforms that strengthened South Carolina's economic infrastructure.
In 2016, Merrill was appointed State Director for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in South Carolina, where he successfully managed campaign strategy, advertising, and media outreach that contributed to Trump’s victory. Merrill’s depth of experience in both legislative leadership and campaign management continues to shape his work in lobbying and public affairs.
